1. Cut a strip of ribbon, satin or chiffon approx 30cm by 6cm.

2. Fold over the end of the material, then fold in half lengthways.

3. Then using a running stitch, go along the bottom of the material till you get to the other end.

4.  Then carefully fold in the end and stitch right to edge.

5. Now carefully pull stitch and gather material to form a circle.

6.     When gathered up, slightly overlap ends and stitch together.

7.     Now punch a circle from cardstock, a bit smaller than your flower.

8.     Place the circle on the back of your flower, and add a decorative Brad through the front and through the cardstock.

Notes:  If using satin, you may want to overlock along raw edges before using.

You can use this method on different widths and material to achieve different size flowers. Finer materials give a fluffy looking flower.

You may want to put a bit of glue, like scrapdots on your card circle to hold the flower in place. This also makes the flower a bit flatter.

The Shop is Moving

August 22nd, 2010

Well girls we are looking at moving very soon, in the next couple of weeks hopefully. We want to be up and running asap and ready for the Christmas rush - which isn’t too far away.

So we are planning a HUGE weekend of our official opening and have some very special things planned.  At this stage the date is Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st October.

Firstly it will be part of our fundraising for “Girls Night In” So we will be having a big crop night on the Saturday night.

We have organised to have a very talented scrapbooker coming to teach for the weekend - Sherry Mendoza.
This is her blog http://sherryscreations.typepad.com/sherrys-creations/

And if your thinking I know her name from somewhere this is where she works:
http://www.scrapbookingmemories.com.au/

What Sherry doesn’t know about scrapbooking isn’t worth knowing! She’s talented and creative plus lots of fun and I’m sure you’ll all learn so much from her.

We plan to have a day class on the Saturday and a shorter class on the Sunday morning. These are currently being organised and I’ll be putting up details later. If you want your name to go down on the list please let me know and PM or email me.

If your from out of town and need accommodation let me know

Design Team Tips - Tarrah McLean

August 12th, 2010

Tips & Ideas

Tarrah McLean gives us her top 3 ideas and tips

When any of your punches get blunt, sharpen them by punching through some foil a couple of times.

If you don’t have the glimmermist colour that you want then use some watered down paint in a spritz bottle, might not have the glimmer but it gives a good mist. You could add dome glitter to it though if you have any.

Keep tags and buttons off new clothes, they look great as recycled items on your layouts!!
